A growth hack when dynamic fields in emails fail

An email was sent to thousands of people using dynamic fields.
The dynamic fields would put the first name in the subject line such as  “Firstname”, here is an email for you….”

For some users in the database, first name was not provided to the email that was sent resulted being ”  , here is an email for you…”

This didn’t sound very professional but the OP was pretty high.

So, another email followed up to all users that received the subject line without their first name.

This email was stating :
“Oops, something went wrong. Would you like us to get it right next time? Please provide us with your first name so we can address you properly in the future.”
And a form to insert all the personal info to complete the email profile…

Like that, we managed to increase the number of users fulfilling their information, thus making our user database information more complete.
